These Scriptures are either mentioned in the video or referred to in principles explained in the video. All of us face the reality that we will be held accountable for how we live our lives.

All Held Accountable

But who will be the one holding us accountable? As we read the Bible, we begin to see that God as Creator of all is the one that holds us accountable according to His instruction laid out in His Word.

Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin,

and so death spread to all men because all sinned

- Romans 5:12 (ESV)

as it is written:

“None is righteous, no, not one;

- Romans 3:10 (ESV)

All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.

- Mark 7:23 (ESV)

We have all become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.
We all fade like a leaf,
and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

- Isaiah 64:6 (ESV)

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

- Romans 3:23 (ESV)

Sin entered the world as Adam and Eve chose to doubt God and then act contrary to His instruction. Sin now becomes automatic for every person. As we read Scripture, God explains that His holiness and our sinfulness are not compatible. Our sin brings a gap of separation between us and God.

Sin Corrupts & Brings a Gap of Separation

Now the reality of our sin and the separation it brings from God doesn't stop people from trying life or even religion on their own. People try many things on their own terms to find meaning in life, and for some, even to find their way back to God. God says that our attempts for meaning or religious improvement apart from Him are useless. While this may sound harsh, He as Creator alone lays out the design for humanity as well as the way to true redemption and meaning in life.

Our Striving Falls Short

Yet people still search for meaning and strive with great effort to cross the gap of separation back to God. As one struggling to wade across a swift stream only to find it impossible, so is the one trying to gain favor with God on his or her own. Sin makes this distance back to God impossible on our own.
